Purple Friends

Squirrel, Annette and Jayne have a little challenge on Squirrel's blog here: to make something with the theme of friendship and to include purple.

I have had this card made for quite a while but left it in my "wip" tray as I thought it needed something else .. .. but knowing that Squirrel is a fan of the CAS style, I thought to myself - 'twill do!

The image of the little girl and her teddy best friend is from an old clear Kanban set I've had ages.  I coloured with Copics and added touches of sparkle to her dress, then added the stamped hearts, coloured them purple and glazed over the top.  Here's the card:

A CAS style for me with just a piece of purple patterned paper from my stash with the faux embossed stitching lightly inked with purple then backed with purple card, and a lighter shade of purple used to die cut the mat for behind my image.  The two Marianne Design dies are LR0112 for the mat and CR1248 to cut out my image.

It's been a busy weekend with visitors, so I am taking it easy and slowly getting back into craft and the computer - been away from it since Friday so not sure if there are any challenge themes I could enter with this card, will have to browse .. .. ..

And thank you to Sarah for letting me know that the Cutie Pies are looking for cute and girly, and also to expand their DT - much as I would like to apply, I am aware that things could change rapidly here at a moments notice with Mum, and I still can't print out digi images onto my favourite 300gsm card I like to colour on, so it's not fair on the rest of the team.  But, I'm open to guesting on a blog challenge if anyone wants me!

Lovey Dovey

After 2 days without the wind it's back along with the rain and blowing from the south again, and that's not a good direction for us!  I am shattered today, aching from bending and digging in the garden yesterday, plus driving a fair amount on Saturday.  I drove from here to Saltash to pick up DH, then all the way to Somerset for the Aero fair and I noticed that we were closer to London than to Cornwall!  Thankfully DH drove back as far as Saltash, and it was shorter and quicker coming home along the old A303 than on the motorway, something to remember for next time.  I then had to take over at Saltash and drive home with him following me in the van, just in case .. .. I was pretty knackered by then!  I am glad I did it - a great confidence boost and hopefully I wont feel as nervous doing a longer journey on my own now.  It will do me good to meet up with my friends and maybe travel a bit further afield to crafty events.  And, despite my worrying, Mum was fine and managed to feed herself both lunch and tea from the selection I'd left in the larder cupboard.

Anyway, I do have a card to share with you today - one of the little ones I've been making with printed out pieces of digi paper left in my basket, along with SU! cardstock for the base cards to fit the stash of envies I need to use up.  The image is from a clear set of stamps I've had quite a while and can't remember who they are by .. .. reminds me of LOTV though, but isn't.  I've coloured with my Copic pens and added the little polka dot hearts from the same sheet, touches of Stardust Stickles and then a dusky pink chalk ink around the edge.  The pretty doilly mat is Marianne Design die CR1248 and the patterned paper a digi design from Cuddly Buddly.  Here's the card .. ..

I've kept it simple, not a lot of room in any case once the image was stuck down.  The base is the now retired close to cocoa shade from SU! and I've simply added a white layer between the base and the digi paper, with the embossed faux stitches created with MD die LR0161.  To finish I found my pink pearl pen and added the pearl dots, ok not too straight but wonky is cute, right!

The theme at Totally Gorjuss is Lovey Dovey so that's what I've called my card.  The Cutie Pie challenge blog want to see cute with spots and dots - I have the polka dot hearts and there are spots on the butterfly patterened paper, as well as my dotty pearls.  Crafty Little Fairies are looking for teddies so I can enter with them too.

Fairytales at CCT

I have inked up one of my older stamps from a clear Kanban set with the story of the Princess and the Frog in my mind .. .. I hope you will like the card.  I've coloured the image with my Copics and added lots of Stickles, after all a fairy has to sparkle!

Here's my card.  I've used SU! card in Certainly Celery and Primrose Petals to mat my image and the piece of patterned paper by Nitwits, edging both with embossed faux stitches.  The little hearts and text are on the same stamp sheet so I added them then kept the decoration quite simple with pretty daisy lace and ric rac braid and a few Marianne die cut leaves from LR0226.

I found some challenges to enter with my card:  the My Time To Craft blog challenge is also for a fairytale creation, Stamp with Fun would like to see green and pink creations, whist Kreative Stamping Friends and Fab 'n'Funky are both looking for birthday cards.

Techno challenge

The challenge this week at Cute Card Thursday is technology. Well at first I scratched my head a lot, thought of space ships and robots, but then remembered this Kanban stamp of a little girl talking on the telephone - perhaps not the latest modern technological invention but fits the bill I thought. I've coloured with Copics and put the card together with magazine freebie papers using the sketch from the Everybody Art challenge blog turned sideways. The embellishments are created with Marianne diecut leaf sprays, punched butterflies and more of the sparkly flowers from my stash with little pearl centres.

Sorry I am late posting today, I'm not feeling 100% and haven't been taking my Bach Remedies so it's my own fault, plus it's so cold again! I get SAD in the winter months so should be getting outside to top up my vitamin D levels, only this winter it's been nigh on impossible - roll on Spring.

On my card today I've coloured up this little girl from a set of Kanban clear stamps, but don't you think she looks like the LOTV little lasses? To add a little extra interest I've doodled little white hearts onto the big gift she is sat on to pick up the hearts on the pink paper behind the image. I've taken inspiration for the layout from the sketch on the Stamp With Fun blog using various Cuddly Buddly digi papers, a Martha Stewart lacy punced edge and the white line and pricking faux stitches around the edges of the papers. Over on the Dutch Dare card challenge blog there's a recipe to create with 3 patterned papers, 3 flowers, 3 sparkly things and 1 ribbon. My 3 sparkly things are the Marianne diecut swirls covered with Eucalyptus Stickles, the blue sparkly organza ribbon and the heart that's got a stickled edge as well as the stamped text in a jade green pearlescent Brilliance ink. I didn't want to make a Valentine card, so have kept this simple so that it could be used for Mother's Day, a birthday or even for no specific reason other than to send to someone, with love.
