Glamourous Gardening

I ordered a pack of C6 kraft cards with matching envelopes from my friend Wynneth so I could make a few more charity cards. This kraft isn't so good for direct colouring, for that I much prefer the Stampin' Up! Crumb Cake and need to order some more of it, but this is a nice thick base card. I managed to punch a flower border with a Martha Stewart punch but when it came to my little punched oak leaves I had to use a scrap of Coredinations. The image is LOTV's stamp called Glamourous Gardening and I've coloured her with my Copics then inked the edges with Magnolia Bud and Sahara Sand Versamagic chalk ink to take off the stark white background and tie in a bit better. I've also inked the edges of almost everything else with Sahara Sand, all except for the flowers, especially as the kraft card has a white core and I didn't want it showing at the edges.

Copics I used to colour my image:
skintones - E000, 00, 21, R00
creamy-browns - E50, 51, 53, 55
greens - BG70, 72, 75
pinks - R81, 83, 85, E04
shadow with warm grey

The challenge this week at Lili of the Valley is to use punches - I've used lots for my embellishment. Copic Creations are looking for a vintage and distress ink look but of course with your Copics, Make it Colourful are wanting to see cast shadows, and I've used the sketch from the Sunday Sketch & Stamp blog for my card layout but with a little extra embellishment! The ribbon is Rose Red seam binding from Stampin' Up!, the pearls on the card and the centres of the flowers are sticky back ones from my stash, but for the pearls on her necklace I drew a line with my cream Waco pearl maker pen onto a scrap of paper, waited a little while for it to thicken slightly then dipped a fine ball embossing tool in to it to pick up enough to dab onto the little pearls.

I rang Mum last night after she had been to visit Dad. She had trouble waking him for treats, but he did seem less agitated so I guess they are keeping up with the pain meds, and getting sleepy is a sign that there's not much time left now. Hopefully today the sides of the bed will arrive and he can go back to the nicer room where it will be easier for the staff to keep an eye on him - instead of being stuck all alone at the back of the home next to the utility room. I'll ring tonight to find out what's happened and see if I need to go down tomorrow. If I disappear for more than a couple of days you will know what's happened.

  2. Such a sweet card Annie and I'm pleased that you like the kraft cards/envelopes. They are a nice heavy weight and I like them, but like you, prefer to colour on the SU! cardstock.

    Take care
