I have been able to put this card together this afternoon, it was very theraputic being able to craft today after all the stresses of the past week or so. My Dad came home from the hospital this afternoon, and although I had hoped to be there I've had to take some time out to recover my own strength but hope to go back tomorrow as there are things to sort out. I was lead to believe that the support system would be in place before he was let out of hospital - but there's been NOTHING! The ambulance dropped him off with a bag of pills and his walking frame - that was it! Mum had to ring the ward to find out what tablets he had already had and what/when the next lot are due. The district nurse's office was just an answer machine and we have no idea if anyone is going to turn up to help put him to bed tonight, or if the Marie Curie night sitter will come either - I am cross and will try to keep calm tomorrow when I am chasing them all up!
Anyhow, back to my card. This is the cute digi image of Wee Fluffy on Lily of the Valley, available from Cuddly Buddly coloured with my Copics plus a pearl acrylic wash over the flowers to give a shimmer (not showing up though). The papers are digi scraps and I've used the sketch from the Corrosive Challenge blog for the card layout with flowers and pearls for embellishment. The For Fun challenge is for spring, and the Daring Cardmakers are looking for May flowers, Hawthorn or Lily of the Valley. Every May in Helston, Cornwall the Flora Dance takes place, and for the midday dance the ladies and gentlemen are dressed to the nines with sprigs of Lily of the Valley pinned to their frocks and in their buttonholes - if you'd like to see pictures from last year's dance look here.
The Digital Tuesday blog challenge is entitled 'thinking of you'. Although my Dad is very much on my mind and has influenced the text greeting I have used on my card, I think perhaps I've gone a bit too girly for him with the roses and pearls!
HI Annie, I can image that you are pretty fed up it must be a worry for your mum, its appauling the lack of communication between the various departments on the plus side the card that you've made is delighful, I love the soft greens

Oh Annie, what a time you're having - stressful enough without not really knowing what's supposed to be happening regarding care etc. You're right to be cross.

Hi Annie, what a lovely card. Love that sweet image and the soft pretty colours you've used.
ReplyDeleteWhat a time you're all having. I'd like to say I'm surprised but to be honest I'm not a bit surprised. Sadly what you're experiencing is fairly typical. I know, looking back to when my late father-in-law needed care, that you need to fight for every little bit of help you get. Hope tomorrow is better and that the information has just not got through to the relevant people. A friend of mine is a senior district nurse and I know how hard she works and she would be horrified if she or one of her nurses was needed and nobody had let her know. Fingers crossed your parents get the help they need sooner rather than later.
Take care,
Kat xx
I hope that the care you need gets sorted out - the Consultant's secretary might be worth a try. the card is lovely & I'm glad you've been able to get some de-stressing time. Shall be thinking of you.

So sorry to hear about the frustrations with getting support for your parents, that's always so difficult. Your card is gorgeous and I know that your Dad will love it if he is anything like mine, roses, pearls and all! I sometimes think the guys get a kick out of the girly stuff and just don't want to admit it.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on winning at For Fun Challenges this week!

Glad to hear you Dad's home but you will find that you have to organise everything because the powers to be say they will but they never do unless you demand it and stand over them to do it. The lack of communcation within departments is riduculous. Hope you get it all sorted out and things settle down for a while.
ReplyDeleteFabulous card by the way.
luv

Hope that by now you have things under control - take care of yourself in the midst of all this. The floral accents are lovely with the softness of the lily of the valley flowers & the whole is just lovely & beatufiully thoughtful.
